In part 1 of this series of articles I go into detail of what an Online Marketing Company should be doing for you.
Online marketing is the way of the future and that is a fact. Gone are the days of telephone cold calling and yellow pages. We are in the generation where we can market online which has major advantages and benefits to your business and most importantly to you.
An online marketing company will slash your marketing costs, and will create a presence over the internet where your product or services will expand and your brand will be virally spread everywhere. Your business will be found by people like never before!
Has do we do this?
Business Development – an evaluation is needed to determine how to maximize the full potential and capacity of your business. A unique online marketing strategy (blueprint) will be presented to you on how to generate leads which will turn into sales. This assessment will give clarity on the countless possibilities to which online marketing can help your business grow and grow and explode. It’s important for you to see how this will be done so training will be given as well. The consultative approach to marketing is imperative so you are not left in the dark.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – SEOis the process by which we optimize your website so it is “ready” to be marketed and ranked highly in the search engines. The main objective is to get your website on page one on Google which is the most utilized search engine worldwide. It’s a known fact that searchers will only look on page one, very few continue to page two and above. What’s the point of having a website if no-one can find you? We want to get your customers clicking on your website and walking through your “online” shop door! The more traffic you get the more sales you generate. This of course if your website has been optimized for conversions. The process of SEO creates links to your website, which will increase the popularity. This means your website will have various content related web properties pointing to your website, making your brand well known and famous in cyberland!
Google Pay Per Click Advertising (PPC) – PPC also known as Google Adwords is buying traffic to your website by creating ads that feature on Google. It costs nothing to have your ad appear but when your ad gets clicked on you pay Google a fee which depends on your keyword popularity and the activity of the searches and the amount of competitors bidding on that keyword. A monthly budget will be needed and the best possible keywords will be used. Proper keyword research needs to be conducted.
In part 2 we will discussing how an Online Marketing Company should be using Video and Articles as part of your Online Marketing Strategy.
MerchantCircle conducted a survey to find out what small local businesses were doing/planning for 2011 as far as Online Marketing was concerned. Basically, what platforms they are using and what they plan to use. (Click on the image to enlarge)
Interesting to see that 70% of local businesses are already doing something on facebook. I suppose that means that they at least have a page. Doubt they are all doing facebook advertising.
The shock for me is that not many are using youtube to advertise their business. It’s a known fact that the engagement one receives from video is phenomenal. I mean, how many videos do you watch online? At least 55% of them are planning to use youtube to advertise their business in the future.
I must just say, don’t be shocked if you are not doing anything yet to promote your business online. South Africans are generally slow on the uptake. The sooner you start though the sooner you will dominate your market and opposition.
Let me know your thoughts and feel free to drop me any questions about Online Marketing.
It seems whichever online marketing method you bring up, you can find different opinions. Seo is the same way since a lot of people love it while some will not. You will find a good number of people who think it is a waste of time. The thing many frequently claim is you have almost no control over your rankings. Plus the campaigns to find links going to your site never stops. You will always find people who remind you that the rules of SEO hardly ever stay the same. The work is hardly ever fun, but if you experience fantastic results the work will be worth the cost.
There is nothing more annoying than having preventable mistakes ruin your search engine optimizing endeavours.
In case you pay any attention at all, then you certainly know the past algorithm revision by Google is geared towards low quality content. From time to time they do go overboard with what they do because no software program can do anything perfectly. They publicly admit that poor sites will not do well anymore in their search results. This latest round of changes underscores the simple fact they do not like sites which are low in the level of content they wish to see.
If all this causes you to look at authority sites, then that isn’t entirely incorrect. So at the least it is impossible to say they are being held in the dark as they are telling us what they want.
One extremely important, and frequently overlooked fact with on page optimization concerns inner link framework. Certainly you always desire to backlink to your internal pages a lot more than to your home page. The way you attempt linking on inner site pages is what we will look at now. Certainly you need to backlink your inner pages for explanations which will be clear in a minute. The overall effect is to enhance the amount of link juice, or power, to your home page via your internal pages. If you’ve got a blog, you can find a plugin that will generally share related posts. For non-blogs, or standard websites, then just insert good anchor text within your content and link to other pages.
One of the significant shifts with search engine optimization is including social media marketing. The goal is so your readers have the ability to tell their buddies about your site. Place icons, or employ plugins, that provide links for posting to Facebook as well as Twitter at a minimum. You will discover around a dozen substantial social sites which include Twitter that you need to have. What this really is all about is social networking optimization which has undoubtedly become a factor in SEO.
There are definitely more important optimization components you need to look at and understand. It is important to always remember that Google’s algorithm is capable of having negative effects. But they have expressed that they believe social approval of content should be measured in rankings.
The individual internet marketer and small business has learned all too well how hard it can be to keep visitors involved and coming back for more. There is a similar concern here, though, and that is convincing site visitors to keep reading for longer periods. There are numerous factors that contribute to both of those visitors behaviors. Reaching success with these aspects will fully rely on your knowledge of your market and website conversion. You can effortlessly find at least a dozen diverse aspects of your site, and each will perform their part in this operation. If you are serious about your business, then you just must start doing split testing on your site. Optimizing your website for the stickiness aspect is one thing we imagine most small businesses fail to do, effectively.
It is an established fact that each person who arrives on your site for the first time will choose to remain or depart in just a few seconds. The end result will be whether that person keeps browsing or not, and that is merely how it is online. The most vital area of your homepage is found in what is termed the ‘above the fold’ area. That is what everybody will see first when they arrive, and it is what is visible with no any scrolling down the web page. Never make people speculate as to the reason your site exists, and that must be very distinct in the above the fold location. If you have a branding declaration about your site, then that will be ideal to have on your home page. People will not stay long if they are unclear why your site even exists, so make sure you let them know right away.
Be very certain you take your niche market into consideration when selecting colors and other graphic areas. There are large differences with what diverse target audiences will put up with. You should end up with a small set of color choices, and then only use other colors that will work effectively with the primary group. If you are doubtful, then create the new site and split test it with your older site. Consider common sense questions like what do the people in your market care about as it concerns your business. Much is determined by the topic of your site, so you can choose a good color that will help that mood. You always want to avoid generating tension because you are using incorrect color schemes. There are psychological side effects of colors, and you need to know about them and use them smartly.
It is well known that a judgement and verdict will be made regarding your site in just a few seconds. One thing you can do is deliberately place something above the fold that effectively captures attention. The intention here is to cause them to look at it and ideally gather some interest energy. What you may also do is say something in the graphic, or near it, so that will even further help to build interest. If you use a graphic, or picture, then make sure it is of very good quality and possesses something unique about it. Certainly you do not want to irritate people with this approach, but preferably you want them to continue reading. What you’re also doing is reinforcing the notion to stay there just a little longer. Obviously, the more you draw people into your site, your total success rate will be a lot greater.
