Upper Bloem

Eight years after the opening of the celebrated Restaurant, La Mouette, the famous restaurateurs launched a new eatery called Upper Bloem and asked OMG to develop a brand identity and website.

Summary

Following the success of the La Mouette Restaurant website, Upper Bloem, which has been lauded as a quintessentially Cape Town restaurant with a unique terroir experience in an urban environment, required a brand identity and website for the launch of their new eatery.

Challenges

The main challenge was for OMG to create a brand and accompanying website that best captured the authenticity of the restaurants stylish food, the people and location.

Our Solution

Branding

The Upper Bloem brand needed to translate well across all mediums including large signage, in-store brand placements, promotional elements and online and digital assets. Our brand strategy was to create a strong and iconic element which we achieved through a minimalist design. The design translated well for all branding requirements from the website to email signatures, business cards, promotional items and across social media.

Website

By focussing on the beautiful food, decor and location imagery, we created a visually pleasing, informative and functional online experience which balances contextual SEO requirements with a focussed and targeted user experience. The website is accompanied by a functional Google My Business which greatly benefits the local SEO efforts.

Email Marketing

Building on the ethos of "Serve amazing food and they shall return!" - the email marketing strategy was developed to create an open and sophisticated line of communication between the restaurant and their clientele. To achieve this we created targeted newsletters with purposeful information including promotions, special offers, food menu updates, exciting news and events.

Results

Since opening in 2017, Upper Bloem has been a consistent go-to in the Cape Town food scene for hungry citizens and foodies alike resulting in rave reviews by happy customers and fine dining publications.

As much as this is attributed to the delicious food and hard work by the Upper Bloem team, at OMG we are certainly satisfied with our part in the on-going development of the brand and digital presence. We continue to provide support fine-tuning their email marketing strategy and providing website maintenance.
